GRAND OPENING at SUGAR CREEK!!!

Please pause for just a minute before continuing and say a silent prayer for
those who will be affected by this latest earthquake.

It's Grand Opening at Sugar Creek Hollow!!!! I am so excited to be part of the celebration and Design Team!! We are kicking off the Grand Opening with a Grand Celebration!!! For today only, we are offering a free digi for for EVERY $10 spent. Spend $10 you get one free digi, spent $20 you get 2 free digis, spent $30...well you know the rest!

The Design Team has created a card for you to see these beautiful digis in use. Here's my card based on this sketch
This is a circular blog hop so where you start is where you will end. I have a list of players, when you are done here just click on the next name to visit.

This cross was printed out on vellum and then embossed with gold detail powder. It turned out awesome! Underneath the cross is gold metallic paper, (this paper is really, really stark, shiny gold) which was cuttlebugged.  The vellumed cross layered over the gold paper had just the right amount of opacity to soften the brassiness of the gold. I wish you could see it in real life, it is such a beautiful soft color. The Bible verse both at the bottom of the card front and on the inside shows the versatility of digital images. You can make them as big or small as you need too!
I hope you enjoyed being here, I love having visitors! Please feel free to leave comments and then follow the links to see more of what is available at Sugar Creek Hollow!

Off you go to visit the rest of the DT to see their beautiful cards. Then, go to Sugar Creek Hollow's website to purchase your favorite digis!!

Faithful

I really love the way this turned out! The cross and dove is another image from SCH as well as "Faithful".  I colored it all with water colors, used a versamark pen over all colored areas and clear embossed. Then I punched an oval using a nestie, took the negative area and inked inside to give the halo effect. I wish you could see it in person, it has a very subtle glimmer to it!
I don't know where this design paper originally came from, I found it tucked away with some other 8.5X11" paper. I love it, it has a very slight shimmer to it, wish I had a boat load of it!!! But alas, I only found two sheets, you are looking at one sheet used on this card! :) The card is a 6X6, I used a Martha Stewart punch to make the framed look, then added the pearls for effect. What do you think??
Sugar Creek Hollow has allowed so many of their images to be available even before the official opening! Tracy has some beautiful Bible verses and vintage images you can look at and even purchase now. Be sure to take a look and be ready to jump in on the Grand Opening! Hope to see you there!!

Romantic Lyrics FCD Blog Hop, Welcome!!

The official start time of this Hop is Friday, at 8:00 AM (EST). If you arrived early, please be patient as all the links may not be live yet.

This is a “circular blog hop” where the only beginning is wherever you start!! You will know you are at the end of your blog hop when you’ve come back to the blog you’ve started from! (It’s not a huge circle…so it should be easy to remember where you started.)

The winner will be chosen from a mystery blog hostess that we don’t even know who it will be until the hop is over…so that’s why you’ll want to leave a comment on EVERY blog, so you don’t miss out!

**To find out if you’ve won… you will be contacted by Pamela via e-mail (so be sure to leave it with your comment.) and you can also find out on Pamela’s blog after the blog hop ends on Mon, at 8:00 PM (EST).**

OK, now that business has been taken care of let's take a look at my card for this hop! We were challenged to use lyrics from a love or romantic song.
I chose "Unchained Melody" as my love song, not sure why except it was a favorite when I was young. (that should tell you how ancient I am! ..sigh) I love the sound of the Righteous Brothers, for all of you who are too young to know who that is click here to listen to this beautiful song and see who the Righteous Brothers are.

I used FCD's new set called Heart Strings.  This is a perfect set for Valentine's but it is definitely versatile enough to be used for any romantic card. This set has gorgeous flourishes and a Romance stamp that is absolutely beautiful, there is also a dainty "I love you" that is perfect for most any card. As you can see, I used the old, distressed look for this challenge, perhaps it is because it was so long ago that this song was popular. Be sure to leave your comment with you email information in order to be eligible for the give away from Pamela!

Now, to continue the Blog circle, you will need to hop on over to Melisa's
and keep going until you’ve come back to where you’ve started!  Thanks so much for playing along with us and we hope you have a great time!

Liber-Tea

This adorable tea pot was made by Tracy Vinson, owner of Sugar Creek Hollow. Don't you just love everything about it? The tea labels were also made by Tracy and she made a comment about "wouldn't it be nice to see a card with the labels and the tea pot together". I really loved this idea so here is my take on Tracy's comment. As you can see the Liber Tea label references 2 Corinthians 3:17, which talks about the liberty we find in the Spirit of the Lord.
Since we are working with digital stamps I was able to fill the tea pot with some digital paper, cool huh? The digi paper is from one of the Shabby Princess's free kits called Promise Collection. I had some paper from a Sasha paper pad that matched perfectly for the background!! The little cross that adorns the silver thread (connected to the tea bag inside the pot!!) is from Walmart. The whole card makes me smile! I do believe Tracy has come up with more winning images!!   What a wonderful message from a humble little teapot!
Mark your calendar for the week of March 1st, big thing happening!!

Spring Collage

I have been wanting to try a collage with Sugar Creek Hollow images; these are the images I decided on!   I really spent more time trying to fix this one after I put it in a coffee solution. I love the look the coffee gave it but I did it after I had colored it instead of doing it before. Can we say "backwards"!! So, consequently all the colors were faded tremendously, I went back over some of the edges to define them better and finally after piddling with it on and off all afternoon I just settled for what I had. I think it turned out pretty well for all the handling it received. :)
SCH has some beautiful images, I really feel quite priviledged to get to play with them. Take a click over to the site and have a look around, remember that March 1st is just around the corner!

   K&Company, Club Scrap, generic

Cup of Love

As Valentine's Day is almost here I was wondering what I was going to send to the grandson's. Keep in mind these two little guys have enough stuff to start their own FAO Schwartz.  While pondering this, something whispered "chocolate", well, that sounded pretty good.  I mean who doesn't love to get chocolate, right? The boys would adore getting some gooey chocolate hearts; but, my son and daughter in law, being very conscientious parents, wouldn't let Ethan and Jonas dive into a box of chocolate. I mean, come on, would you?  Maybe chocolate on a "less sugar high" level. Hmm, how about a nice cup of cocoa, maybe a few tiny little marshmellows thrown in for good measure. That sounded safe enough......Cool!
So Swiss Miss to the rescue! What kind of grandmother just sends cocoa without making it fun to receive? No me! You have probably seen this before but I have to tell you it is the first time I have done it! If those little guys enjoy their cup of hot chocolate as much as G-Mom had making it, then we have a winner! Yum! Wish I could see their adorable little faces when the "cards" arrive!
First I had to make an envelope for the Swiss Miss to go into. This paper is text weight and easy to work with; I just laid down the package of mix and folded around it to get the dimensions; cut, folded and taped.
Perfect fit! Now, we have to decorate it!

Firecracker Designs by Pamela has some adorable stamp sets and digital designs.  I used a giraffe and coffee cup (from the digital images), put the giraffe in the cup with a photo editing program and called it a Cup of Love. I just love this adorable little giraffe and it doesn't hurt that one of the grandson's favorite animal just happens to be a giraffe. Printed it out, colored it with watercolors, used some crystal glaze and a shimmer gel pen.  I am sure they will allow me some artistic license in coloring the giraffe in a more "valentine" color scheme!
What little guy wouldn't love to get this for Valentine's Day?  Heck, I would like one myself!!  Go by FCD by Pamela and check out all her goodies. She has brand new stamp sets in, digital images and lots of information for all us stampers! Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoyed my cocoa gift package.

Sugar Creek Hollow-Design Team Preview blog hop

It's almost here, March 1st is just around the corner and Sugar Creek Hollow will be officially open! If you haven't already you need to go over and sign up as a follower, this gives you a chance to win a great gift during the Grand Opening!!
The design team was given a set with three images that were designed to go together; we were asked to create and share our art using all three images. That we did!! In fact, every day this week there is a preview going on so you can take a look with a different design team member.
Here are the cards I made:

As you can see, I loved playing with these images!!
Sugar Creek Hollow is filling an area that has been lacking in the digital stamp world. The images that Tracy Vinson (owner) is interested in providing are vintage, antique, and primitive. Although the store doesn't open until March 1st, you are able to pre-order now! I believe you will love these images, they are so versatile and timeless!
I feel truly honored and blessed to be a part of this group.  The team is made up of women of faith, highly talented and diverse in their styles. How could one ask for more than that?  We support each other in our art and in our personal needs through prayer and sharing.  Yes indeed, this was a gift and I am very grateful!
OK, now it is time for you to take a look at the other ladies sharing today, Marsha and Dani. Get ready to be wowed!!

Heart Strings-I Love You!

Good Morning! It must be time to make some Love cards!
This card was made with a beautiful stamp set from FCD by Pamela called Heart Strings.  If you look closely you can see the background paper was made by stamping with versamark and clear embossing powder. I just love the subtle effect you get when using this technique!!

Leave me some thoughts on this card, I love hearing from you!!
