Fabulous Friday - Recessed Card challege

A very good morning, welcome to this week's Fabulous Friday! I hope you are all settled in with your cup of java and ready to hop around to see some eye candy!

As you can tell by the title, the DT's are sharing recessed window cards with you this week. Have you ever made one? Well, I never had and wasn't sure what to expect. We   (DT team) were given a link to a great tutorial at SCS, bless their hearts, they have saved my crafting life more than once!! The tut was so detailed I found making my first recessed card was not only fun but was delighted with the outcome!!

The basket, the watermelon, the cloth under the basket, the text inside the card are all from Sugar Creek Hollow's Summer's Picnic! The jar is from the Jelly Jar Set! The tree is from a sketch I did and then added leaves on the computer and then used it over and over. A little grass, shading and blue sky and you got yourself a picnic scene.  Here's the inside:
All those adorable little watermelon's I used for embellies were made by printing out the watermelon and using Shrinky Dinks to shrink them down. Gosh, I haven't done that in forever, now that was really fun! Although, I must admit my first batch didn't flatten *sigh*.  This shows you how versatile your digital images are!

Thank you so much stopping in and sharing your cup of java, I would enjoy reading any comments you may have! Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Birds and Hearts

There's not a stamp or any coloring on this card!  This morning I woke up and for some reason I got a bug to look for Pennsylvania Dutch/Folk images. The more I googled the more fun images I found!!

I decided to put together some background paper I could use with a font I have with some adorable Folklore images. After playing for what seemed like hours I was happy with the paper and started looking around at what challenges I could participate in.

SCS's Inspiration Challenge on Saturdays is always fun so I headed over there. The inspiration this week was Amy Atlas Events, a sweets site! Ugh! I cannot believe the yummy things this woman has on her website, it is practically sinful! I found a page goodies that was really colorful so I thought I would give the images I found this morning a go. Here is my inspiration page, just look at all those colors and all those calories!

I entered a couple more challenges as well, Stamp Something's challenge-Two of Something, and Sew Many Challenges # 15-Anything Goes.

This has been a fun day, I hope yours was as well!  Thanks for coming by to say "hello", hope you enjoyed visiting!

Challenges entered:  SCS- IC233, SMC#15, Stamp Something-2 of Something

Fabulous Friday- What's your favorite image???

This week the design team was asked to chose their favorite image and make a card using it. Well, I couldn't really decide on just one image, so selected two and did a card with both!

The first image is the door which comes in a set called Behold I Stand at the Door, the second image is the Cross and Dove.

I used my craft knife to cut the door out and placed the Cross and Dove behind the door! I was so hoping this would work and it did. The Bible verse at the bottom is also from the "Behold I Stand at the Door" set.  Since you can see the back of the door when it opens I water colored a second door, cut it out and adhered it to the inside.

Most times I have finished the inside of the card when I post it, however this time I did get it finished, so I thought I would share that as well. It's pretty simple but I think it finishes the card out nicely. The verse used here is Matthew 7:8, which is the verse that follows the verse on the front of the card. This verse was computer generated.

Fabulous Friday-Color Challenge!

Good Morning to all you fellow stampers! Today the design team at SCH will be sharing cards/projects made with the SU! colors: Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Blue Bayou and Soft Sky. The color chart we use is SQ online and it didn't have a color for Blue Bayou on the main color chart page, nor did they have Chocolate Chip, and I didn't see Soft Sky either! So this presented a bit of a problem, the files section had palettes made by others when these colors were active but the colors couldn't be copied and pasted into a personal palette for saving. GRRR!

So I googled SU! color charts and found the older colors on various blogs; I am not sure my card hits the colors perfectly but they are certainly in the "family"! Thank goodness stamping, coloring and this challenge aren't an exact science! :)

I had so much fun with the easel card last week I decided to do another one. *grin*
This card used two sets from Sugar Creek Hollow. The Alpha Flash Cards and Vintage Graduation.  This card is a bit of tongue in cheek for the graduate with a sense of humor, pay close attention to the text on the inside!
 close up........

Ok, since today is Friday you will want to take a look at all the other creations and then hit the shop and get your  Friday Freebie as well as scoping out the new releases!

From Silouhette to Paper Piecing!

Today I took a free digital image from My Grafico and digitally paper pieced it. Since the image is a silhouette, it was such fun to see how it would look when digi paper was used to paper piece it. This all started when I was trying to figure out what to do for SCS's Inspiration Challenge, IC231. I thought this was a tough challenge because the site was very modern but I loved the birdhouses and used them as a jumping off point!

If you are a digital stamper let me know what you think, if you aren't a digital stamper....let me know what you think! *wink*

Thanks for dropping by, hope you have a truly blessed weekend!

The View is Better from the Top!! Fabulous Friday

A Fabulous Friday Morning to you all!! Yep, today is another fab friday and we are all sharing easel cards today! Since I had never made one of the easel's before I was a teensie bit concerned about how difficult it might be. NO worries, SCS has an awesome tutorial and a video for those of us who like to see more detail. As it turned out these cards are super fun to make and not hard at all!!

I chose one of the Alphabet Flash Cards ( there are 4 cards in the set for $5.00) from SCH for my card this week! These images are such fun to play with, here is the card I want to share with you:
Now for the Easel effect:
I was pretty happy with the way this turned out considering it was my first try! I decided at the last minute to use craft wire to add spokes to the popped up bike, here is a close up of the spokes.
Sorry the picture is just not that great but IRL it looks pretty cool!

Don't forget that today is Freebie Friday, go here, get your image and hang out, look around at the brand new site and do some shopping!! So glad you came by, please be sure to visit my teammates and see their beautiful cards!!
