Buttons and Bows-SCH Hollow Sat Challenge!

This week our challenge is to use Buttons and Bows.

I chose the Eastern Blue Bird image along with the dogwood branch. I must be trying to get a mind set for spring! Boy am I ready!! This bird and it's brothers, the Barn Swallow and the Christmas Cardinal are three of the most beautiful birds you can find anywhere!

OK, this is how our challenge works:
Each week we will choose one random winner, who will receive a free digi of their choice from the Sugar Creek Hollow Shoppe and a badge to display on your blog.  If you use a Sugar Creek Hollow image you will get two entries in the random draw.  Just follow the instructions on the sidebar to link your second entry.

Each week the Design Team will choose a Card of the Week and the creator of that card will get a badge to display.  One overall winner will be chosen each month from the Cards of the Week.  That person will be invited to be a Guest Designer and participate in the next challenge.  An image will be provided to them to work with.  The Card of the Week prize will be awarded once we reach a minimum of 10 entries.

I chose to use a sketch from Stamp With Fun #98 for designing my card this week.
one more of a close up of the bow:

My papers are K&Co and Club Scrap. I used a cuttlebug to emboss the strip of blue, I put versamark on the inside of the folder, after dry embossing I sprinkled it with gold glitter embossing powder and heat set it. I did the same thing to some small scraps of green paper to get the leaves which were punched with a MS punch. I have become addicted to stitching around my paper and seem to do it every week. I love the look it gives! I used the gold cord to enhance the buttons and the bow, some gold stickles as the center of the dogwoods and a Sakura glitter pen on the flowers. I hope you like the way it turned out! Too glitzy?

I hope you will join us this week in our challenge. Please take a moment to leave me a comment, I love hearing from you. Thank you so much for stopping by, good luck on your entry!!

Fanning the Flame-MMSC90

It's Tuesday.  It's Midnight Madness Time!!
Welcome to my little space for sharing some works of love!  That word love seems to be in the air, it's everywhere right now, it's almost the official day for showing that someone special how much you love them. Valentine's Day is so close,  if you need to get a card ready for your special someone allow me to suggest you join the fun at Midnight Madness with this weeks sketch!

Make it simple or dress it up or do something in between! If you are looking for just the right image take a peak here!!  Priscilla's store has some perfect images for all occasions but let me tell you she has made up some fantastic Valentine images. I love all of Priscilla's art work;  this week I chose to use one of the older images, the Victorian Rose Fan Set. This set comes with three images, you can check out the set here.
Here is a close up of the fan, isn't it gorgeous! I printed it on some K & Company paper then used a white gel pen to highlight the lace area and a Sakura glitter pen to bring out some of the delicate markings. I colored the flowers and leaves with markers;  the blue accent area was done with watercolor pencils. I think this image is such a romantic Victorian image.
The tag at the top of the card was computer generated, it was printed on the same paper as the fans. Ahhh, romance and fans, "Fanning the Flame". Is that a little "over the top"?  ;) Ok, enough little snippets, let's take a look at the finished card. I do hope you like it, I have fallen in "love" with it!

The other papers I used were from DCWV, Club Scrap and one paper I can't identify the company. It was in a batch of scraps. I used a MS punch on the bottom to give the jagged edge shown in the sketch, some metallic thread hand sewn of the corners and then machine stitched around the paper. The tiny roses are from Ben Franklin and the gold cord is the cord that is used with the Bowdabra. That yummy wide gold lace is from Walmart and finally the gold ribbon across the card is from Ben Franklin. You don't realize how many elements you use until you start listing them all! :)

One more look!

My design team mates are listed on the side bar under Priscillastyles Design Team, do yourself a real favor and check out their lovely creations. (This is Team B's week to share a digital image with you) I hope you have enjoyed today's card and am so glad you stopped by, please leave me a "hello" before you leave.

SCH's Valentine Birdhouse!

A great good Saturday morning! We have sunshine today with a bit of warmness in the air! Makes me anxious for spring and blossoms, and yes, birds singing! Hmmm, speaking of birds, the design team this week are all using SCH's Valentine Birdhouse!  You will get to see how versatile this image can be!

Before we get to my card let me remind you that each week the SCH blog has a challenge and you are invited to join us. Here is how it works:  Each week we will choose one random winner, who will receive a free digi of their choice from the Sugar Creek Hollow Shoppe and a badge to display on their blog.  If you use a Sugar Creek Hollow image you will get two entries in the random draw.

The Design Team will also choose a Card of the Week and the creator of that card will get a badge to display.  One overall winner will be chosen each month from the Cards of the Week.  That person will be invited to be a Guest Designer and participate in the next challenge.  An image will be provided to them to work with.  The Card of the Week prize will begin once we reach a minimum of 10 entries.

Ok, let me share my card with you and tell you a bit about making it.
I paper pieced the bird house with this adorable image from Graphics Fairy. I couldn't believe how perfect these love birds were for this house!! I colored the trim and hearts with watercolor pencils, used markers for depth and then added glimmer pens on top of that. I cut a mat shaped like the house and stitched with metallic gold thread, distressed the edges and inked those to help them show up better. The design paper is from K& Company and is also gold stitched with the addition of some lace on the bottom. The flower in the top corner is some of the lace stitched with little roses from Ben Franklin, a MS punch added some leaves/fronds with glitter spray. Now let's take a look at that roof!!
I water colored the roof and then I glued on some twigs, yep, I did say twigs. I cannot believe how much I loved that look, but  then I thought "wouldn't it look even better if it had some leaves/fronds on it to look like thatching"?  I had some dark chocolate paper that had been embossed in a Cuttlebug folder then clear embossed with gold glitter, perfect for the MS punch! Well, what do you think, does it look cool or what?

Thanks for stopping in, be sure to visit the SCH blog  to see all the design team's cards and the Shoppe to pick up your freebie and to get your own bird house! I look forward to visiting your blog to see your creations!!

Butterfly by Sugar Creek Hollow

A happy good morning! Just a very short post for today to introduce you to a new image made by SCH. This butterfly image is just  beautiful and I wanted to use it to enter into the Flutter By Wednesday challenge today which is white on white. I printed the butterfly on some metallic paper and then clear embossed it. While heating it with the heat gun it changed the look of the metallic paper. I can't even explain how the heat did this but if you have embossed metallic papers you know what I am talking about. I then used a couple of glitter pens to color in a few of the areas on the butterfly. I was astounded at how this turned out! Please tell me what you think!

Welcome to SCH Saturday Challenge!

Every Saturday Sugar Creek Hollow hosts a challenge for the design team and for you the guests!
This week's challenge is on the SCH Blog and everyone is invited to enter a card "fabric, not bow".  You are not required to use an image from Sugar Creek Hollow but if you do you will get two entries into the random prize draw.  The winner of that draw will receive a digi of their choice from the Sugar Creek Hollow Shoppe and a badge to display on their blog.  Once we reach a minimum of 10 entries, the Design Team will select a Card of the Week and the creator of that card will receive a special badge to display on their blog.  NOW GET THIS...Every month there will be a Guest Designer chosen from the Cards of the Week and that person will be invited to join the Design Team in a challenge.  There are lots of reasons to enter;  we can't wait to see your fabulous creations.

I found some fabric that has been around for probably 15 years tucked away in a trunk. I am a true pack rat, you just never know when you might need "that something or other that just doesn't seem right to pitch" so it's better to keep it than throw it out. really? This fabric has made at least two moves with me and I truly cannot remember why I bought it, but it was perfect for this challenge! *grin*

With some "Stiffy" and a 5"X7" piece of material I made my background for the card.
I soaked the material in Stiffy and then applied it to a piece of cardstock, making sure to smooth out the wrinkles and bubbles. When it dried it could be treated just like paper. It had adhered to the cardstock and was "stiff", I cut it to fit on my card base and from there the card was developed. This is a great way to use up scrap fabric or if you are like me save it for years and then pull it out for a challenge! LOL

The image I used is called Vintage Filigree Heart, you can get this lovely stamp by joining Sugar Creek Hollow's group over at CDAC (Crafters Digital Art Center). Now you know why I was excited when I found the long lost fabric, it's perfect, right?

Here are a couple of close up's for you:

this bow is made with that gorgeous crinkly ribbon Tracy has at her shoppe.

I hope you will all join us in this fun challenge. I look forward to visiting your blogs to see your creations.  Go HERE to see all the gorgeous creations waiting for you made by the rest of the design team!!  Thanks for dropping in! :)

MMSC86- Prsicilla's Design Team with Midnight Madness!!

A Good Tuesday Morning;  it is time to share a Midnight Madness challenge with you! This week's challenge is MMSC86 and it looks like this:
or

Since I am on the design team for Priscilla's Styles, I wanted to introduce you to one of the new Valentine images! I chose this adorable "love birds" image....is this not about the sweetest image you have ever seen?!!

This image and sketch were just perfect for each other, all I had to do was figure what out what colors to use. By the time I finished water coloring the image that problem took care of itself!
The designer paper is digital from a DCWV.  These two birds along with the heart on the paper seemed the perfect setting for our "love birds" and the colors were perfect. The other paper you see are a mixture of Club Scrap and K & Company. A bit of stitching around the side, some ribbon, gold cord and some glittery punched leaves, a fancy corner and ....I HAD to stop. I sometimes can get totally carried away if I don't watch myself! :) To get this image or any of the other fabulous images visit Priscilla's store. She has just released some precious images for Valentine's Day!! Hope you will join us all in the fabulous sketch challenge, thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy New Year - Welcome to 2011's first Sensational Saturday!

this week we were asked to make a card or project using this sketch:
The sketch is on SCH Blog and everyone is invited to enter a card using this sketch; you are not required to use an image from Sugar Creek Hollow but if you do you will get two entries into the random prize draw. There are lots of reasons to enter so we can't wait to see your fabulous creations.

My card loosely follows the sketch but I mirrored it :) This paper is a digital paper from DCWV, it is called Ciao Bella; it has that very special DCWV look to it doesn't it? I just love this entire series of paper and you will probably be seeing more!! I thought it had a romantic, valentiney look to it. The Sugar Creek Hollow image is the "A" in the Alpha Flash Card image. If you don't have this set, you should think about how versatile it is; lots of possibilities here! There are so many images over at Sugar Creeks's Shoppe, please stop by and browse though all the images. There are certainly some there screaming to live on your computer!!

Did you know? - - - The proceeds of sales from the Sugar Creek Hollow Shoppe go to provide food, clothing and shelter for those who are less fortunate.  If you don't have any images from the Shoppe yet, check it out and when you buy something to use on your creations you can say that you have helped out too.

You can see each of the design teams creations on SCH's blog or you may visit each of their personal blogs, they are all listed on the side bar!! When visiting their personal blogs you will be able to browse and fill yourself with inspiration. Enjoy our efforts today, good luck on your entry!!
