Stitching Challenge and Sugar Creek Hollow Sketch Challenge for You!

For information on the Sketch Challenge scroll down to the end of this post.

Good Morning! It's Fabulous Friday and time for the DT weekly challenge! This week we were asked to create something using either real or faux stitching. What!!! I can't sew!! I have tried faux stitching several times but it never looks as good as I want it to look, do you know that feeling?

Since this was a challenge for SCH I wanted to do something that would look good with these awesome images so I decided to do so some hand stitching. I used to do counted cross stitch so I figured I could pull this off. Let me just say right here; I am not a sewer!! I found some gold metallic thread that has been tucked away for probably 10 years and decided to use it.

First I printed the Vintage Flowers on a transparency and colored it with markers on the opposite side of the printed image. Once I was happy with that I cut it twice with the oval nesties, The smallest oval highlighted the front most flower. I put just a touch of glue on the colored areas and mounted the transparency on card stock. I used some vellum to cut the scalloped oval for matting the main image.

This yummy paper is from an old Club Scrap kit, I just love this paper, it is so elegant and has such a velvety feel to it! The chocolate brown strip is where I decided to do just a bit of stitching. If you look carefully you can see the metallic thread. It's not much but it does a nice job of presentation.

OK, I admit this is not a very good example of stitching because there just isn't sewing here to look at! I warned you, I am not a sewer!  That's because I am not good at it and didn't want to ruin the focal point of this image. I am determined to get better at this, in fact, I saw a couple of sewing machines at Walmart that are under $100 and am toying with the idea of getting one. When you go the rest of  the girls sites you will see why I want to give this machine thing a try. You are going to see some awesome examples of stitching. But before you head out to the rest of the blogs I would like to tell you about the very first sketch challenge just for you!!
