I seem to be on horses and cowboys recently. This beautiful horse head is another clip art, digital image. His features are so perfect and chiseled he almost looks Arabian. He was printed on my inkjet using photo settings. He then was colored with watercolors and markers, his background was sponged and placed on a technique known as madras from Technique Junkies.
The image paper and both mats were cut with Nestibilities Tag (I think 4). All paper (except the image paper and that is from SU!) brads, and beads are from Club Scrap. I used a white gel pen to highlight his forelock and mane. Isn't he gorgeous?

Handsome Man

This is one of my all time favorite stamps, it's from a retired SU! set call Wild Wild West. He alluded me for a couple of years but was finally tracked down by a lady in Arizona that found him in upstate NY for me! How's that for tracking down your cowboy! He reminds me of all the great cowboys from the time I was a little girl up until now; Roy Rodgers, Wild Bill Hickock, Cheyenne, (wow, I am showing my age!), Maverick, and whoever Tom Selleck plays! LOL Today he is just plain Handsome Man!
He was watercolored with pencils, ink, and then markers for definition. I stamped him on SU Vanilla and thought the torn edges gave him an antique look. The belt stamp is from Club Scrap. I stamped the belt twice, once on brown cardstock and once on glossy silver paper, then cut the accents out of the silver and glued them to the cardstock one. The photo corners and the mat for "Howdy" were cuttlebugged, cut out and then I took a black Sharpie and accented it to give it lots of depth. The photo frame and the rest of the paper is from Club Scrap's Wild West kit. The watercolor/marker technique is from Technique Junkies! Check them out!
Whew! Lot of work for this guy, ahhhh, but he is so worth it!

Deeper Still

Coming next weekend is an event I have been anticipating for a very long time! In fact, since last August when I attended my first Deeper Still conference in Atlanta. Greensboro will be fully blessed with one of these events right here in NC this year, July 31-August 1. Three of the most knowledgeable women in teaching the Truth and the Word of God will be present to share with us along with the fantastic praise and worship team of Travis Cottrell. If you have never experienced thousands of women singing and praising together then this experience will knock your socks off! There will be other events throughout the US coming up so check out the web site and see if you can make it to one!! You will be so glad you did!

I love the look of using versamark and clear embossing to get a resist image. The first thing I did was to ink up the stamps I wanted to use with versamark and then the ink, I used white ink and brown ink on the different stamps. (the stamps are from Club Scrap, SU! , IBFS and Inkadinkado) After stamping your images sprinkle with clear embossing and heat set, this protects your image and you are free to then play with the background! By tearing some paper and masking off part of the image I was able to divide the background into two color sponges areas. When you are ready to do the other side, just flip you paper over and this will match your inked "line" of demarcation and you can then sponge the other side. While sponging use your imagination and add colors that are pleasing to you and will enhance your stamped image. After you have sponged and reached a desired color it is time to take a white gel pen and highlight some areas that may need to be brought forward. Now....you are ready to choose how to present your "art"!
For this I chose a beautiful brown cardstock from Club Scrap that brought out the browns in the background, used a Martha Stewart border punch to give it a soft appeal. This was mounted on more Club Scrap cardstock that seemed to be a great match for the various shades of blue, added some embellies and ribbon and the card is complete!

I found this clip art (I think they can be referred to as digital stamps now!) on my computer and thought it would make a cute card. He was printed and colored with watercolor pencils and then cut out, then placed on the background with pop dots for dimension. The stamp I used for the hills/trees is from Stampscapes, the sky and sun were done with sponging. I put some red flowers in with a Zip marker and then sponged ink all around the edges to give it some character. The Bible verse I found on www.Biblegateway.com and wrote it on a piece of SU Vanilla. He turned out pretty cute but then again I am not very objective when it comes to anything with a horse on it!!

The boys at Monterey

These are the lights of my life! They took a trip to Monterey, looks like the boys are certainly enjoying the sand and surf!! I just hate the fact that we have an east coast/west coast travel problem! I don't get to see these guys but a couple times a year. I feel like I am missing so much but I try to make up for it when we do get together! Aren't they just about the cutest boys you have ever, ever seen!!
G-mom sends "smoochies"!!

Framed verse

This background was done using a technique called "polished stone", you can get the particulars by joining Technique Junkies. This is a great group and has a gazillion techniques available to members, check it out. (You will not be sorry, there is a great chat group where everyone shares their art, monthly swaps and great information about stamping.)
Ok, back to the card, by putting an image on the glossy paper with Versamark first and then doing the polished stone I got just a faint image in the background paper. I think the effect for this card works well. The verse is from ODBD, the frame was done with Nestibilites . I used copper metallic paper but it was too shiny so I toned it done with some rub on paste (can't remember the exact name) in a dark forest green and was able to get the aged look. This is one of my favorite cards!

My First pressure canned veggies!

This may seem like a rather odd post but I have to say I am so proud of these green beans! I have always frozen beans in years past but my neighbor convinced me that home canned beans have a better taste. So I purchased my first ever pressure canner and gave it a whirl. Don't they look delicious!! Ahh, life on the farm!!

I was pretty happy with the way this card turned out! The bird and verse is from ODBD. The paper (as usual) is from Club Scrap and the little cross is from Walmart.
I stamped and colored the bird and branches twice and then used dimensionals to make them "pop"; I wish you could see it in person, it is very dimensional.
The inked background was sponged by using torn paper to get the effect of mountains and a negative of a circle punch was the stencil for the sun! Then the tags (from Nestabilities) were outlined with a gold krylon pen as well as the card base. Hope whoever winds up with it will feel the love that went into making it!

Peace

This stamp is from ODBD (Peace on Earth), I just love this stamp set. The background was done with torn paper to resemble mountains and ink sponging. (The stamp itself is the image of the lion, lamb and foliage along with the verse.) This card was great fun to make, all the paper is from Club Scrap. Thanks for stopping by!!

Wow! It's been a While!!

I haven't been posting much, in fact I haven't been posting any!! I have been playing with facebook and busy with making cards for Touch Point at church. My Pony has also been having hoof problems and this has been difficult to address and to find a suitable solution. All in all, the truth is I have been lax, lazy and not dedicated!! I am going to try to be better!! While I'm here I would like to share some cards I have been working on.
This is another Touch Point card. This particular background is made up by using the fern stamp from Club Scrap in various colors of ink, the paper is also from Club Scrap, the verse stamp is from Our Daily Bread Designs. The adorable little birds are from SU! Hope you like it!!
