Today the Design Team will be showcasing their Easter cards. I chose the decorative cross and Luke 24:6 as my verse, both can be found at Sugar Creek Hollow! I wanted to really let the cross be the focal point so I chose a somewhat understated paper from K & Company's Life's Journey. Although this paper is gorgeous it doesn't take away from the image but it does enhance it! The mat just behind the cross was distressed quite a bit and then inked with distress inks in tea dye and walnut and then rubbed some metallic creme paints. (You may be able to see some of the gold paint on a close up)
The cross and the frame were both embossed with gold and then rubbed with metallic paints to tone them down. Unfortunately the picture doesn't do justice to the effect, it has a worn and aged look, almost a verdigris. I was pleasantly surprised to get that particular look! I also used the metallic paints to distress the edges of the oval and rectangle.
The shimmery gold paper used under the ribbon is from Club Scrap--I think! It has such a beautiful soft, slightly shimmery look, that's why I posted the close up photo so you could see how nice it is. Finally I used a gold Krylon leafing pen to outline the darker mat in order to tie everything together.
